Summary0000715: [DVT HW Validation] Power consumption test and wake up time
DescriptionHi Sean
I make mantis ID for DVT HW Validtation test and check it (It is same to EVT)
Some important items and SKB's big observation will be made seperately.
Please examine and update report of power consumption
1. normal state : ac port / dc port
2. active standby state : ac port / dc port
3. passive standby state : ac port / dc port
4. Full load (with usb 900mA) : ac port / dc port
5. active standby wake up time
6. passive standby wake up time

accumulate at least 1 hour

according to your DVT schedule : 5/13~5/17

Hi Fu-Chiang,
Please follow up this testing and work with SW Jason to see if there is any questions on timing or power consumption result.

Hi SB,
Can you confirm that SKB is not request passive standby state as below item 3&6?
3. passive standby state : ac port / dc port
6. passive standby wake up time

Hi Sean.
SKB request to no3, no6. but passive standby function is not added to Eagle.
SKB manager just want to know passive standby information for AOAP.

Hi SB,
I see.
So, for Eagle ATV version, we should skip item 3&6, since our current SW doesn't support passive standby mode.
And let's check the passive standby information when AOSP version kicked-off.

Hi Sean.
Can you test passive standby power consumption with a special SW like EVT.
Passive standby power consumption is very important test item.

Hi SB,
I would suggest that we should verify the normal/active/full load condition based on current software first.
Then we can ask our S/W team to build a special software for passive standby verification.

OK thank you. and please update the passive standby test schedule.
First I'll say SKB's manager delay to delay passive standby power consumption test schedule.

Hi Sean
1. Please update the test result
2. SKB manager accept to delay passive standby power consumption and wake up time

Hi SB,
Thanks for your confirmation.
Please find power consumption report as attached.

Hi SB,
The power consumption of active standby in DC side is arround 1.1W which is a bit higher than EVT test result.
Can you confirm whether this result is accepted by SKB? I heard from Sheila that Emma is asking for the power consumption value since the KC label has to show this result, right?
Also, I have discussed with Jacky and he mentioned that TVstorm had changed the stnadby process due to SKB's request. Therefore, the current active standby mode is only to turn off the HDMI output. And it should be the reason why the difference of power consumption between EVT and DVT build.

Hi Sean. thank you very much for your report.
according to your report, you just examined Ui mode at normal state. the power consumption is lower than EVT's result. (because you examined to EVT normal mode with youtube 4k stream.
please test again normal mode with youtube 4k stream. and please make the report format like IR test report.

Hi Sean.
1. I'll discuss SKB to active standby power consumption value.
2. according to Jackey's comment, DVT result is higher than EVT because the DVT only turn off HDMI output at active standby mode.
I have a question. What functions does turn off at active standby mode of EVT?
(To discuss with SKB, I should explain SKB's manager to the reason of different result between DVT and EVT)
3. the active standby power consumption value of KC lavel use AC part value. Onetech will examine this value. According to KC certification document, active standby power consumption should be examined to AC part. If Onetech submit to the result, I share the result to SKB and you. I'll also discuss to SBK manager.

Hi Sean
I add the comparision of power consumption between EVT and DVT.
(see below the table)
I just calculate "the power consumption with USB load" - "only USB load watt (4.5W)" => See the cell "B-C"
and compare to power consumption without USB load (normal operation)
1. EVT board is similar
2. DVT board is different.

Hi SB, could you help to share the expected schedule that we shall have AC part value from Onetech.
Hi Emma, as the conversion by wechat, the lead time of package materials are 30days. I don't think that we will have time to re-send KC label based on the current situation. Could you let me know your comments on this matter? Thank you.

Hi Sheila,
Originally, the due date is 5/27(Mon).
But we will effort to provide the KC certification label data by 5/22(Wed) after confirming by SKB.

Hi Sean.
SKB request that normal state power consumption shoud be under 3.0W (with adapter), and active standby under 1.5W (with adapter)
I received this information today.
1. Can you debug ? (I think the time is not enough)
2. Please explain the difference between EVT and DVT SW.
3. Can you test DVT power consumption with EVT SW? I Just want to know this issue (DVT powr is higher than EVT) is not related to HW

Hi Sean.
SKB request that all power consumption should be test again with Editech adapter.
(Some Editech adapter was already delivered to your office.)
please check your test condition (especially router)

Hi SB,
The PDF file is the document of the power consumption. The excel file is the compare of different FW and different conditions for testing power consumption.
The Ethernet may have different power consumption when DUT enters active standby state. So our solution is to switch 10/100M Ethernet when DUT enters active standby state.
But the side effect is when using command to switch Giga ethernet and 10/100M ethernet, the phy IC will be reset and the TV screen will show network is not connect.
Currently we have no other solution for active standby state under 1.5W.
Do you have any idea for this issue?
Please see the attached files, thank you.

Hi Sean, Fu Chiang.
I'm sorry to reply lately. I discussed to SKB manager with your good report. they accept that root cause is network and adapter.
you don't need to debug. because, normal power consumption is under 3.0W with editech adapter and active standby result is 1.5W at Onetech.
SKB manager request to below items :
1. normal operating power consumption should be measured at least 5 pcs.
2. passive standby power consumption. (schedule and result)

Hi SB,
Thanks for your confirmation.
About the additional test for 5pcs samples, shall we only conduct based on 100M router?

Hi Sean.
No. you must use 1G router. This is skb's request.
